Preface

Bismillahirrohmaanirrohiim,
Alhamdulillah, praise to Allah for Thy blessing to us to held the "INDUS- TRIAL ELECTRONIC SEMINAR 2003" (IBS '03). The seminar is an interdisciplinary integrated forum on modeling, simulation, design and implementation of industrial electronic fields. The seminar attracts many

Researchers from diversified fields that concern to the development of industrial electronics hi broad senses. Enthusiasm and eagerness of Indonesian researchers to present their scientific works, and to share ideas and experiences are the sign of the academic and industrial development dynamics which is expected to become a vehicle of the country's economic recovery.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to organize the 5 th Industrial Electronics Seminar (IES'03). The seminar is sponsored by Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya - PENS (Electronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya - EEPIS), the Institut of Technology Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya (ITS) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

We are also pleased to report that the seminar is well attended; there are 88 proposals coming from several prominent institutions across the country and about 75 papers are going to be presented. These papers will be presented in six tracks that divided into 10 different sessions, namely Information System, Control System, Image Processing, Material, Applied Electronics, Telecommunication, Power Electronics, Power System, Power Quality and Drives.

On behalf of Organizing Committee and Technical Program Committee of IES'03, Iwould like to thank the numerous people who have contributed in organizing this event. I would like to thank especially the reviewers to help us go through the papers we received. The reviewers were (in alphabetical order):

Last, but not least, I am most grateful to my wife Zaenab Nunung and kids Nindya Soraya, Natasha Savira, and Ilham Mohammad Akbar for their encouragement, understanding, and patience during the preparation of seminar -you are my everything!
