Combining Beamforming Techniques and Dynamic Power Control for WCDMA System |
| Abstrak |
: |
The application and implementation of smart antenna system have been considered in the Second Generation (2G) system and the Third Generation (3G) system. By knowing the positions of mobiles, a base station can steer the beam and direct the power toward a single lone mobile or a groups of mobile stations. The system can be implemented using either an adaptive or a switched beam technique. In this paper, we evaluate the SINR performance of an adaptive and switched beam technique in WCDMA system for downlink employing dynamic power control using simulation. The aim of the dynamic power control is to limit transmitted power on both the links while maintaining link quality under all conditions. Additional advantages are longer mobile battery life and longer life span of BTS power amplifiers. Initial simulation shows that after employing power control, SINR can be reduced at around SINR threshold.
